A a aA Abacus
by Corey Smith
"A a aA abacus is an experimental multi-media piece that collages elements of spoken word, composed music, projected video, dance, poetry, and autobiographical monologue in a theatrical and visual presentation. Involving a cast of 7 musician-performers, A a aA Abacus aims to explore the continuing issue of identity in the 21st century. It hopes to probe into such vital questions as: How do we define relationships? How do we define identity through language? With the knowledge that our body and mind are in a constant state of self-renewal, how do we define ourselves?
A a aA abacus is the culmination of four years of study in music composition and performance art. It is conceived, written, and directed by Corey Smith. It is an investigation into identity and change through a performance that questions its own identity and steps boldly into uncertainty." - Corey Smith
